“I’m stranded on Mars. I have no way to communicate with Earth. If the Oxygenator breaks down, I’ll suffocate. If the Water Reclaimer breaks down, I’ll die of thirst. If the Habitat breaches, I’ll just kind of explode. If none of those things happen, I’ll eventually run out of food and starve to death. I’m screwed.”
It only took my four days to read the book and I have watched the movie multiple times. They are truly some of my favourites.
While I didn’t fully understand some of the ‘science talk’, it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the movie or the book. I found it easier to understand in the movie for some reason. Maybe having someone else say the equations and methods made it easier for me to grasp.
The movie has a great cast (Matt Damon, Jeff Daniels, Jessica Chastain, Sean Bean and Chiwetel Ejiofor to name a few), great soundtrack, and is one of the best movie adaptations of a book that I have ever seen.
It does have a couple of difference here and there, mainly towards the end, but other than those it is exactly like the book.
I highly recommend both the book and the movie, great for both fans of science fiction and non-fans.
